Mortal Kombat 11 features another kind of finisher in addition to the traditional Fatalities that NetherRealm Studios was keeping secret all this time.
You can perform Mercy and allow a defeated opponent to recover a sliver of health in order to continue fighting. You will basically be giving them a second chance at life instead of decapitating them or ripping out their organs in the most brutal manner. It’s something that was actually introduced with Mortal Kombat 3 back in the days and was necessary to perform an Animality. There’s no indication of any such thing here except for disrespecting your opponent by beating them twice in grand fashion.
The button inputs to perform Mercy are universal, meaning that it’s the same for every character. You just have to do the following once the “Finish Him/Her” phase arrives:
- Mercy (Mid) – Hold Flip Stance, D, D, D, Release
Besides Mercy, every character in Mortal Kombat 11 has two Fatalities in total. You, however, start out with only one Fatality and must unlock the other randomly by opening chests in the Krypt. There’s a quicker way though. If you already know the correct inputs, you can forego unlocking the remaining Fatality for your favorite character. Simply head here and note down how to perform every single Fatality in the game for every character.
Mortal Kombat 11 is now available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Those who pre-ordered will have access to Shao Kahn from day one.
