Respawn Entertainment has introduced an important change to the way how dropships work in Apex Legends that every jumpmaster should know about.
The previous technique where you had to glide like a dolphin to cover more ground and quicker has been made obsolete by the recent patch. There’s now a more simpler and more effective way to drop down into Kings Canyon faster than the rest, or at least faster than the ones still employing the older method.
According to the patch notes from yesterday, dropships now move at an increased speed of about 50 percent. The developer also made a comment about how this will ensure that players who like to drop later in the flight will not have to wait for longer durations.
What this means is that the best way to drop faster in Apex Legends is to now just wait until the dropship is directly above your designated landing zone. Either that or wait until the dropship flies as close as possible to your intended location before jumping. Both ways will help you land on the ground faster than those jumping well before and trying to dolphin-glide their way forward.
Diving straight down was always faster. However, the dropship was previously moving at a slower pace, which meant that players who jumped in advance had a better chance of hitting ground first. This changes now. If you’re still doing the same, you must have already watched a number of other squads land before you despite leaving the dropship after you.
It goes without saying how important it is to land first in Apex Legends. You get the opportunity to loot first, which is advantageous in any battle royale game. Hence, start using this new technique to drop faster in Apex Legends and wipe out the competition before they even know what happened.
Apex Legends is now available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
