Command & Conquer Remastered is about to conclude its planning phase, meaning that the project is all ready to enter full production in the coming weeks.

Taking to Reddit earlier today, producer Jim Vessella shared the first art preview for the iconic Construction Yard. He revealed that this is only one of many such overhauls and the goal is to maintain the authenticity of the original in-game assets. He also added that “opportunities to pull in details from the cinematic footage” are always on the table, which clearly shows from how the remastered Construction Yard has blue texturing on the doors from the original unpacked live-action sequences.

The Construction Yard has always been at the heart of the franchise. It’s what allowed you to begin setting up a base by opening up the construction of important buildings such as Refineries to gather resources, Barracks to defend, and Power Plants to provide power. Hence, it’s only fitting that the first art preview has been for the Construction Yard.

Command & Conquer Remastered has achieved several key milestones in the past months, as pointed out by Vessella. The first playable campaign mission for GDI, running at 4K resolution, was delivered just last month. Currently, the developer has moved on to setting up the multiplayer and netcode.

Command & Conquer Remastered was first announced last November. Petroglyph Games, which contains many of the original developers from Westwood Studios, is leading the project. Lemon Sky Studios, which helped out with StarCraft: Remastered is also involved. Fans will be thrilled to know that Frank Klepacki, who composed the original soundtrack, has returned to head the audio efforts.

It goes without saying that Command & Conquer Remastered is definitely in the right hands. That will help fans sleep at nights, particularly after surviving the Command & Conquer: Rivals announcement last year. Rather than green-light a new installment, Electronic Arts went with a microtransactions-heavy mobile game. Command & Conquer Remastered will thankfully contain no microtransactions at all.

Command & Conquer Remastered has no release date but is speculated to launch in September 2020 to coincide with the 25th anniversary celebrations of the franchise.
